The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Press Freedom Award is co-sponsored in conjunction with the Southern Africa Trust. The award, with a cash prize of US$2,500, is given to honour excellence in journalism, described as the upholding of ethics of the profession at all costs and the relentless pursuit of the truth behind the bare facts.

Rights & Democracy is currently accepting nominations for the John Humphrey Freedom Award, which is presented every year to an organisation or person who has made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of human rights and democratic development.
