Latin America Workshop: June 13-20, Lima, Peru
The fourth regional training workshop will be held in Lima, Peru, this June. Participants from at least six Latin American countries will come together to share their tactics and to strengthen their training skills.
Making cooperation between indigenous peoples and Multinationals Possible
After days of tense negotiations between indigenous communities in Latin America and inernational mining companies, a company representative asked, "Instead of repeating everything that we are doing wrong, can you tell us how to do things right?" First Peoples Worldwide and Business for Social Responsibility took up the challenge. For three years they have been training companies to build more effective, constructive relationships with Indigenous peoples.
Involving Businesses in Human Rights
The Danish Institute for Human Rights is creating an assessment tool that will help businesses avoid violations of human rights. But why should businesses care? How can we convince them to protect human rights? We know that we can’t build a world that respects the basic dignity of the human being without the involvement of the private sector. Come share your ideas, experiences and questions about how to do it!
