RESOURCES

Two of our Tactical Notebooks are in-depth case studies of non-violent action. In Plan B: Using Secondary Protests to Undermine Repression by Zorana Smiljanic, we learn about the Otpor! student movement in Serbia, which mobilized a disenfranchised population, used mass demonstrations and creative nonviolence, and leveraged international support to help bring down a dictator. In The Dilemma Demonstration: Using nonviolent civil disobedience to put the government between a rock and a hard place, Philippe Duhamel of interTactica describes how Operation SalAMI used its dilemma demonstration tactic, as part of a broader nonviolent campaigning strategy, to pressure the Canadian government to act according to its professed values and publicly release its proposed Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA).
