Announcing the 2008-2009 New Tactics – NED Grant Partners
New Tactics is very pleased to announce the 2008-2009 New Tactics – NEDGrant Partners. The seven organizations selected to receive this grant comefrom many different regions of the world, and work on a wide range of humanrights issues.
BAOBAB for Women’s Human Rights, and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Nigeria - BAOBABand NAWOJ aims to improve journalists’ reporting on violence against women bydistributing selected New Tactics Notebooks among their network of up to 370journalists.
Fundación de Educación Popular (CIAZO), El Salvador - The CIAZONetwork aims to train their team on the New Tactics tools and methodology, whowill then train the board of directors of the CIAZO Network’s eight memberorganizations.
Fahamu, Kenya - Fahamuintends to use New Tactics materials in six workshops to enhance the skills,tools and knowledge of a specific group of Kenyan human rights practitioners.
Solidaridade Buka Hatene (FORSANE), Timor Leste - FORSANEintends to create a local mediation council to reduce community conflictthrough training on New Tactics methodology and the use of Action Theatre. Theywill translate and distribute four New Tactics Notebooks.
Liberia Association of Psychosocial Services (LAPS), Liberia- LAPS wishes to address early marriage and school drop-out amongst girls inthe communities they serve, by using New Tactics process tools and two NewTactics Notebooks.
Regional Centre for Minorities, Serbia - RCM aims to translate,adapt and use as an advocacy tool the New Tactics Notebook, Testing for Discrimination.
Swat Youth Front, Pakistan - Swat plans to use the NewTactics resources and tools to advance human rights in District Swat andadjoining districts. The project aims to translate and distribute the New Tactics in Human Rights: A Resource forPractitioners book.

The Dodd Prize commemorates the distinguished career in public serviceof Thomas J. Dodd who, as Executive Trial Counsel at the Nuremberg Trials and aConnecticut Senator from 1959 to 1971, fought against infringement andsuppression of human rights in the United States and abroad. The New Tactics in Human RightsProject is an international initiative led by a diverse group oforganizations and practitioners from around the world. The project iscoordinated by the Center for Victims of Tortureand grew out of its experience as a creator of new tactics and a treatmentcenter that also advocates for the protection of human rights from a uniqueposition—one of healing and reclaiming civic leadership.
