Hi everyone,
There is a really great new tool that I would like to let people know about. It's called Security in-a-box, and was a joint effort between Tactical Technology Collective and Front Line. Security in-a-box is a toolkit that was created to help human rights defenders and activists protect their privacy and digital security needs. It can also be an important tool for members of the independent media whose work involves human rights.

In case you are just catching up, we ran a dialogue on unarmed accompaniement from January 23 to 29, 2008. And what an outstanding exchange it's been. It started with a few questions, to which our generous resource people provided a wealth of answers. If you haven't had a chance to follow, I would hate for such gold nuggets to be lost on you.
So I have compiled a list of highlights from the dialogue. The list is subjective, but hey, that's what you get for relying on other people's reading...
In this notebook we learn about how effective and beneficial building collaborative relationships with government institutions can be to advancing human rights education. Women for Women’s Human Rights (WWHR)-New Ways in Turkey gained the support and use of government resources for furthering human rights education of women at the local level.
This notebook describes how one organization (ICAR) in Romania was able to pressure the government to accept its moral and legal obligation to provide care to torture victims. The group had international support but they recognized that it was the states responsibility to rehabilitate this socially marginalized group.
In this notebook we learn about how effective libraries and librarians can promote human rights by providing information to people in places where reliable sources are lacking.
