Information for Featured Resource Practitioners

Information for Featured Resource Practitioners

New Tactics' Featured Resource Practitioners are those human rights practitioners with experience using the featured tactic that have volunteered to serve as a resource in a Featured Online Dialogue. New Tactics invites these practitioners from all corners of the world to share their experiences, successes, challanges, and obstacles in using particular tactics. The New Tactics community is encouraged to participate in the online dialogues in order to create a rich, thought-provoking, useful conversation.

There is a wealth of knowledge and experience to be shared about the tactics we're using! Here are a few examples:

Below is information on what is expected of the Featured Resource Practitioners, and a sample timeline for participation in a online dialogue.

Expectations

Our featured online dialogues begin on the fourth (4th) Wednesday of each month and last seven (7) days (with some exceptions). Each Featured Resource Practitioner is expected to add at least two (2) comments each day for all seven (7) days. These 'comments' might be questions, replies, answers, stories, etc. New Tactics features organizational websites and we encourage resource practitioners to provide links to available resources within the dialogue.

Timeline

  • One week before the dialogue (the third Wednesday of the month) we will be posting the practitioners' biographical information (including a photo). We ask that resource practitioners send this information two weeks ahead of the dialogue start date.
  • Register as a member of the website (you must be a member to participate in any of the online dialogues). Upon registering, an email is automatically sent with a username and password. Be sure to use the information in the email to log on to the New Tactics website right away. We encourage our featured practitioners to create a user biography (under your account settings), and to include a photo and a 'signature' because these then automatically appear with each comment posted to the website.
  • One or two days before the dialogue, New Tactics hosts a conference call with the Featured Resource Practitioners. This is an opportunity for the practitioners to 'meet' each other and discuss some of the major themes to be addressed during the dialogue. Featured practitioners receive an email with instructions on how to participate in this conference call.
  • The first day - the fourth Wednesday of the month - the dialogue is open for comment. New Tactics promotes the dialogue by sending our monthly eNewsletter with information about the online dialogue and brief biographical information on the Featured Resource Practitioners. The dialogue space is open for the featured practitioners and the New Tactics community to make comments, ask questions, and start the diaogue!
  • By the morning of the (8th) day (Central Standard Time in the United States), the dialogue is 'archived'. The dialogue remains available for comments from the New Tactics community, however, the commitment of the featured resource practitioners to respond and participate has concluded.

New Tactics welcomes and encourages our featured resource practitioners to invite their colleagues and those in their civil society networks to join the dialogue. We want to expand the network of people interested in discussing, sharing and using new tactics to advance human rights.
