Dr Alice M. Nah is a Lecturer at the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York in the United Kingdom. She conducts research on the security and protection of human rights defenders at risk as well as asylum and migration in Southeast Asia. She has previously published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Asian Journal of Social Sciences, Australian Journal of Human Rights, International Journal of Human Rights, Journal of Human Rights Practice, and Urban Studies. She is a Co-Convenor of the British Sociological Association's Sociology of Rights Study Group, the Vice President of the International Detention Coalition, and an advisor to the Migration Working Group of Malaysia and the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (serving as its previous Chair). She is also on the Steering Committee of Health Equity Initiatives, Malaysia, and on the Board of Protection International.
