In 1995, founded Acción Solidaria, a non-profit AIDS Service Organization, and has acted since then as its Executive President. From 1998 until 2004 was the HIV/Aids NGO´s Representative at the Technical Group on HIV/Aids of the local UNAIDS office. Since 2001 became part of national and international networks of social entrepreneurs such as Ashoka and Liderazgo y Vision. In 2003, was one of the founders of CODEVIDA, Coalition of Organizations for the rights to health and to life, bringing together people with chronic health conditions such as hemophilia, leukemia, organ transplants, breast cancer and HIV. In April 2005, was elected as President of Sinergia, Venezuelan Association of Civil Society Organizations, which involves over 50 organizations and networks. Re-elected for a fourth and final term until December 2013. As President of Sinergia, has contributed to its participation in international networks, such as CIVICUS, Mesa de Articulación and the Coalition of Latin American Human Rights Organizations, in order to strengthen Sinergia´s advocacy on two core human rights: freedom of association and participation in public matters.
In June 2009, was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington-based International Center for not-profit-Law (ICNL), with projects in over 100 countries; and in August 2010 was elected to the Board of Directors of Johannesburg-based CIVICUS, World Alliance for Citizen Participation, which groups Civil Society Organizations and advocates from around the world.
