Karaitiana Taiuru descends from the Indigenous Peoples of New Zealand/Aotearoa, Māori. He affiliates to Ngai Tahu and Ngāti Kahungunu.
Over the past sixteen years Karaitiana has created a myriad of free language resources that enhance the revitalise the minority language of the Māori, while making the plans and tools freely available to be modified by other minority languages.
He has advised international governments and organisations about how best to utilise ICT to assist with language survival.
Some of the resources include: free spell checkers, Dictionaries, Auto correct tools, localisation projects, Māori keyboards, standards to create macrons on the web, language portal, papers and research.
