Facilitate a Team Discussion
If you are unable or do not want to use the online tool, use the questions below. Take time with your team to reflect on your common values and hopes. Reflect on the common values that people in your community may hold. Consider how these values can bring people together to build common ground. Consider how the realization of the human right you identified in your problem statement would change your community. Imagine how it would change your country or even the world.
Use these questions to create a positive, hopeful statement you can share with others:
- What would you recognize as a positive change as a result of addressing your identified human rights-based problem?
- If you were to be successful in your advocacy, what would your community look like?
The Tactical Map Tool builds on your problem statement. We envisioned a future where both girls and boys in Somalia reach their full potential. The tactical mapping tool used our problem and vision responses to create this vision statement:
In the future, girls and boys in Somalia reach their full potential ensuring girls aged 6-16 living in the urban poor community in Galkayo, Somalia have the Right to Education.
This vision statement shares a positive future for both girls and boys. All children can reach their full potential. This vision for the future ensures that the girls most marginalized will enjoy their right to education.
