Emily Hutchinson | Program Manager
Emily leads the global New Tactics program and is responsible for strategic planning, development and management. Emily is an attorney with significant management experience in the U.S., Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkans. Emily has worked with governments and civil society organizations on a wide range of human rights, transitional justice, and post-conflict governance issues. Emily previously served as Counsel at the Public International Law and Policy Group, as well as the regional program coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Businesswomen’s Network. Emily has also managed campaigns for state-wide election and served as the first executive director of Mill City Commons, a non-profit health and wellness organization headquartered in Minneapolis. Emily holds a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, an M.A. in Middle East Studies and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and a B.A. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University.
Nancy Pearson | Training Manager
Nancy is responsible for creating curriculum and training techniques to bring New Tactics in Human Rights methodologies for strategic and tactical thinking to a variety of audiences worldwide. Nancy has a wide array of experience in non-profit work doing social work, community organizing, and the training of human rights activists. Nancy has a master's degree in social work from UC-Berkeley and bachelors of social work and and sociology from Augsburg College.
Lisa Peterson-de la Cueva | Training Officer

Lisa Peterson-de la Cueva brings significant experience in training facilitation and advocacy within intercultural contexts. Most recently, Lisa led training and education for Community Technology Empowerment Project at St. Paul Neighborhood Network and annually supervised and trained 35 AmeriCorps members in a social justice curricula. Previously, Lisa conducted trainings in citizen journalism and adult basic education with immigrant communities in Minnesota, and also coordinated volunteers at American Jewish World Service in New York. Lisa has an MA in journalism and mass communications from the University of Minnesota, MS in teaching from Pace University and BA in History from Barnard College at Columbia University.

Sydney Stead | Program Coordinator
Sydney is responsible for providing programmatic, logistical, risk management, and administrative support for the New Tactics program. She previously supported CVT’s rehabilitative programs for survivors of torture and war trauma at five clinical sites in Kenya and Uganda. Sydney also has experience in refugee resettlement, professional and youth leadership exchange programs, legislative advocacy, and community organizing around immigrant and criminal justice issues. Sydney holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Lewis & Clark College.
Middle East & North Africa Team
Noor Zada | MENA Director
Noor has more than 13 years’ experience in the NGO sector, she joined New Tactics in Human Rights since 2014 and her first role was MENA Training Manager later she moved to be the MENA Manager and now she is the MENA Director, since then she has been responsible for the strategic planning, fundraising and management of our work in the Middle East and North Africa region. Prior to joined New Tactics Noor served for eight years as a Trainer and Senior Program Officer at Partners-Jordan, a Jordanian non-governmental organization. Noor has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Jordan.
Omar Altabakha | MENA Training Manager
Omar has joined the team of New Tactics MENA in February 2016 as a MENA Associate Trainer then was promoted to be MENA Lead Trainer then Omar worked his way through to become the MENA Training Manager. Omar develops and conducts complete training programs on advocacy using the five steps methodology for strategic effectiveness in many countries within the MENA region. Omar also manages and implements processes that enable our trainers to build and coach a growing network of trainers in the MENA region. Omar has a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Ayman Malhis | MENA Digital Media Coordinator
Ayman has joined New Tactics MENA in February 2018 as MENA Digital Media Coordinator he is responsible for overseeing the program’s online presence in Arabic, including website, social media channels, online community, and recently he was part of the team responsible for developing The Tactical Mapping Tool (TMT) which is a tool that visualizes human relationships surrounding complex problems. In addition to the e-learning course.  Malhis holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Amman al Ahliyya University.
Haya Al Jouhari | MENA Trainer
Haya has joined New Tactics in Human Rights in July 2021 as a MENA Trainer, Haya is responsible for providing training programs on advocacy using the five steps methodology for strategic effectiveness within the MENA region along with the development of training materials and other tasks assigned by the MENA Training Manager. Haya has nine years of experience in the NGO sector. Prior to joining New Tactics Haya was assigned to different positions at different organizations such as: An Institutional strengthening coordinator at Mercy Corps, Business Skills master trainer at Spark organization, and as a business development specialist at Small Enterprise center in Ramallah. Haya has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Birzeit University, 2012.
Shaden Al Ajarmeh | MENA Trainer
Shaden has joined New Tactics in Human Rights in July 2021 as a MENA Trainer, Shaden is responsible for providing training programs on advocacy using the five steps methodology for strategic effectiveness within the MENA region along with the development of training materials and other tasks assigned by the MENA Training Manager. Prior to joining New Tactics Shaden worked for six years as a Trainer and Inclusion Technical Officer at Humanity & Inclusion (HI) an international non-governmental organization where she trained and couched the humanitarian workers affiliated with many international organizations in order to make the service provided and the projects inclusive for people with disabilities. Shaden has a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Jordan 2012.
